Meet
Kylie Moulds
Having your first lesson with Kylie, you can expect her to ask a lot of questions and listen intently. This is because she wants all her students to walk away from a lesson with a greater understanding of golf and even more love for the game.
Kylie has been fortunate enough to have played stunning courses both in Australia and abroad including Cruden Bay and Pasatiempo GC, but her most memorable golfing moment comes from the Old Course - a hard experience to top.
"My most memorable is my first ever lap of the Old Course. My tee time was well after dinner and the entire experience was almost spiritual."
Off the course, or as close to off the course as she gets, her favourite thing to do is play a round with her teenage son, read books and play football with her O-35 team with Marrickville FC.
Something many people don't know about Kylie is she's a Liverpool FC fan and her perfect Sunday morning includes being double parked on two devices - golf on one and Liverpool FC on the other.
The daughter of a golf professional, Kylie was ten years old when she first started playing. By 1999, she'd finished her traineeship and gone straight into an assistant and coaching role. She's been coaching ever since.
Twenty years of that has been as Club Professional at Marrickville Golf Club, as well as a stint working at the home of golf, St Andrews, Scotland, along the way. Kylie has been in love with coaching players through the game of golf since she started and has never looked back. Her teaching philosophy is simple "Golf is complex. My job is to help players make better sense of it."
She enjoys coaching people who are keen to improve, regardless of their skills.
"Being able to help people get better is a privilege that I am forever grateful to have."
Meet
Lachlan robinson
Australian PGA professional - Teaching professional at Pymble Golf Club & Scratch Golf Studio
He was eight years old when his dad decided to take up golf again. Lachlan tagged along for one range session and never looked back. Junior golf turned into serious amateur golf, then a genuine run at turning pro, right up until covid changed those plans.
Along the way there was a Division 1 Metropolitan Pennant win with The Australian Golf Club, and a US junior tournament qualifier that came down to a five-way playoff for one spot. He stuck his wedge shot inside 2 feet on the first playoff hole and tapped in for the win.
It was through covid that Lachlan discovered his passion and talent for teaching. Initially coaching a couple of mates, he realised he liked it more than he expected, and signed up for the PGA traineeship - with coaching his sole goal. He has now been a full-time coach for the last 5 years. Additionally, Lachlan carries a Bachelor of Sport and Exercise Science which shows up in how he talks about the swing; "The understanding of the body and how it works has had a great influence on my coaching."
He is a big believer that strike is everything, and that everyone has their own way of creating it - there is not one absolute technique. A first lesson with him isn't about an overhaul, it's about understanding what you're actually doing and why. He wants his students to feel confident that improvements can be made, creating a clear picture of the journey you are both on together.
Lachlans proudest coaching moment: a student unhappy with her form began working with him prior to an overseas golf trip. This student came home having shot 50 Stableford points, winning the trip outright. "But for me it's not so much the score, but seeing the joy that came from the improvement. We both had pretty big smiles on our faces."
If you ask Lachlan about his most memorable golfing moment, he’ll say its from The Old Course - where he was lucky enough to compete in a tournament.
"It is surreal, the whole town buzzes for Golf and you feel this energy of excitement all around. It was a very special moment being announced to the 1st tee, big scoreboard set up behind and hitting that first tee shot. It's known as one of the widest tee shots in golf. I have never been so nervous…"
Outside golf, he's a committed foodie, chasing down new restaurants and testing dishes at home. If you catch his Instagram Stories while he's travelling, it's mostly posts about food.
